Exposition Yenny Hernández Carpio

16 september – 9 december 2024

Yenny Hernández Carpio, daughter of Spanish immigrants in Caracas, broke away from traditional career paths to become an artist. With nearly 30 years of experience, she developed her own style, marked by color and symbolism, expressing joy, hope, and love. Her work started as hyperrealistic but evolved into a more surrealistic and eclectic style, influenced by Cobra and pop art. After emigrating to the Netherlands in 2016, she continued her artistic career. Her exhibition “Colors of the Soul” features 21 colorful works, inspired by nature, life, and the Creator. She sees art as therapy and a way to overcome pain and express gratitude.

Exposition Frank Meijers

October 1st – January 11th 2024

Frank Meijers found his calling as a painter only after many wanderings in India, Africa and South America on the Venezuelan island of Isla Margarita. His passion for painting was inspired by his encounter with the famous Venezuelan artist Yenny Hernandéz Carpio, who later became his wife. Despite his long period without serious painting, Frank convinced Yenny with his artistry. He began with impressive canvases and developed his figurative impressionist style, characterized by shades of gray, a rarity in Venezuela. Frank is known as the “Dutch Master” in Venezuela, where his art now graces museums and galleries.

Exposition Dyon Scheijen 5 March 2023 – 2 July 2023

Dyon Scheijen (53), born and raised in Schin op Geul lets art and audiology come together in the art project ”Where art meets science”. He has been working at audiology & communication Adelante in Hoensbroek as a clinical physicist – audiologist for 25 years.

Searching for balance in his life after a period of stress and tension, Scheijen decided to pick up an old hobby. Painting large colourful works of art became a great success. And since 2012 he has therefore become a professional artist in addition to his profession.

Large abstract works of art on acoustically absorbent canvas. Being able to understand each other, listen to each other, offer a listening ear, be heard, communication is the basis of being human. Without an opportunity to talk to each other, man slowly falls into social isolation.

”Mankind is so beautiful, just like a work of art, the longer you look the more becomes clear. A superficial look gives less depth than a comprehensive observation.” Scheijen uses his art to make people aware of this and that is exactly what this exhibition shows you.

Mark Haagmans Exhibition 28 October - 1 March 2023

Born and raised in Born, this Limburger now lives in Amsterdam and has been painting since 2007. Completely self-taught, Haagmans started his career without having had any formal training or read any books on techniques or materials.

His work provides a glimpse into daily life. He paints the emptiness, peace and quiet that exists when people are not present.

Haagmans explains, “Everything we make and leave behind influences what is to come. It has its own meaning, purpose, beauty and eventual decay at every instant. Seen, appreciated and understood in one moment and in another it’s rejected, lost or misunderstood. Only the memory of what it once was like remains: the figurative “footprint”.”

What is this? Who was here? What has happened or will happen? These are the questions that Mark Haagmans asks in his work.

Exhibition Quicx – George Tielens & Eugène Quanjel 1 June – 21 October 2022

Painter George Tielens (1888-1950) began his career as an advertising artist and, after an intermezzo as a less than successful businessman, opted permanently for the arts in 1929. Together with his family, he moved to Limburg. Although his greatest talent was portraiture, his real love and specialisation was the farmyard. After his return to Limburg, he started to create murals at parish churches. Of all these paintings, only one has survived; it can still be admired in Spaubeek. His biggest commission was the complete glazing of the St. Servatius in Vaesrade. He also made windows for the chapels in Beek and Heerlerheide.

Artist Eugène Quanjel (1897-1998) was a Dutch painter, glass artist, sculptor, and designer, in addition to being an engineer at Maurits State Mine. His painting style is described as impressionistic. He mainly painted landscapes, city views and flowers. With attention to light, colour, movement, and a sketchy working method. His paintings were not a representation of the subjects as they really are. Quanjel also designed many monuments in Limburg, such as the Oranjeboom in Geleen and a sculpture group of a sculpture group of a miner, a dockworker and a farmer in the harbour of Stein. Many stained-glass windows by the artist can also be found in church buildings in Limburg.

Exhibition Jo and Micha van den Brand 15 February – 15 May 2022

Jo van den Brand (1943-2020) style is known by the art of painting still life. At a young age he was captivated by the power of drawing. In the 1980’s he became proficient in the realistic art style. Many solo and group exhibitions of his work have taken place at the Netherlands, and abroad, including in New York and Basel.

His art is painted very realistic, often with an unusual composition. In a certain way that put the viewers on a wrong track. For his artworks he used oil paint on panel.

Van den Brand compared his style and way of working with climbing a mountain. The goal, the top of the mountain, is the main goal of the artwork. During the way up, van den Brand enjoys the painting process during months of work, which feels like an infinite feeling. When the goal, the top, was reached, he was able to enjoy the ‘view’, the composition, the colors and the theme.

Besides the oeuvre overview, paintings and drawings by his son Micha van den Brand will also be exhibited. Micha’s works are of a very different nature to those of his father. More than one year after Jo van den Brand passed away, his son Micha is very proud to exhibit together with his father in Burgemeester Quicx.

Exhibition Jo Havenith 1 October - 31 December 2021
Exhibition Jo Havenith 1 October - 31 December 2021

Jo Havenith aims to immerse you into an atmosphere of diverse expressions of drawing and painting. Showing speed alongside calmness in movements during the process of his exhibited artworks. Jo Havenith gets inspired by his travels to Tuscany, studies of the Italian Renaissance and his love for the Limburgian landscape. During his artistic quest, it became clear to Havenith that the application and processing of materials for the purpose of imagination is infinite. The continuous processing of various materials is the core of his artwork to Havenith.

By merging a natural, figurative style of art expression with a more interpretive, abstracted working method, Havenith tries to get closest to the truth of a work of art. This is reflected in the alternations between strong use of colour, spontaneous lines and busy eccentric or geometric compositions.

The exhibition of Jo Havenith at our manor farm, consists of 12 paintings on canvas, 7 works behind glass with different drawing techniques, some frescoes on panels and 2 stained glass plates to reflect the breadth of Havenith’s talent on various works of art.

This exhibition takes you on a journey of passion for Tuscany, Limburg nature and the human movements within.

Exhibition Claudia Volders 10 May - 3 September 2021

Claudia Volders draws inspiration for her work from the world of science. When creating her pieces, she attempts to get as close to the essence of this subject matter as possible. It involves talking with historians, philosophers, cardiologists, and genealogists, all of which help to add a valid dimension to her designs.

Her work is exhibited in a variety of locations as individual elements, including sketches (material) experiments, drawings and paintings, as well as finished pieces. “I make encounters visual. I am convinced that the whole process makes more impact than just the ‘finished’ painting.”

Installed at our estate castle, the exhibition consists of a series of paintings in a range of sizes, style and technique. The themes and forms create a fluid connection, from recurring visuals of flowers, temple floor plans and Indian ornaments.

Volder focuses on the movements she makes in her studio, and these determine her body of work. ‘Meander’ is one such technique that has symbolic value, not only for the freedom of movement, but as a homage to the colours and curved lines created by the River Geul, with its natural bends and forms that shape the Limburg landscape.
The exhibition takes you on her quest for connection, intuition, science, nature, new worlds and ancient civilisations.
