Morning: Estate exploration

Start your day with a refreshing run or serene walk through the Ingendael nature reserve, before enjoying a hearty breakfast in the light-filled Winter Garden, or on the terrace if weather permits. Afterwards, take time to appreciate the estate’s vast footprint, from the sculpture garden and orchards, to visiting the vineyard and WIJland vegetable garden. Don’t miss the baroque St. Gerlachus Church before stopping for coffee and slice of traditional Limburg pie at Burgemeester Quicx.

Lunch: Casual heritage

Settle in at Burgemeester Quicx, located in the estate’s former farmhouse. This inviting spot carries the name of the local mayor who once resided here and serves as a rustic venue for homespun flavors. Alternatively, take a 10-minute drive or 30-minute stroll into the charming nearby town of Valkenburg to explore its diverse lunch scene.

Afternoon: Vineyard trails or wellness

Allow the afternoon to unfold in line with your energy levels and interests. Hire a bicycle or scooter and tour the winding hills of South Limburg, passing babbling streams and stopping off at local vineyards. Alternatively, enjoy wine tasting without leaving the estate, thanks to our collaboration with renowned regional winemaker, St. Martinus.

Those looking to achieve complete relaxation can retreat to Spa & Wellness St. Gerlach, situated in the château’s arched cellars, for a restorative treatment and a swim in the Roman-style indoor pool.

Evening: Culinary excellence

Dine at Les Salons, where history meets casual fine dining in the original manor house. Awarded 14 Gault&Millau points, the restaurant focuses on sustainable principles, using ingredients harvested from the estate and its WIJland. Complete the night with a performance at the Open-Air Theatre Valkenburg or simply enjoy a drink at our cosy lobby bar.
