A message from Camille Oostwegel

Dear guest,

We are at the onset of another extraordinary year. I hope you feel the same. After two years of dealing with all sorts of restrictions we can exercise our wonderful profession again as of Wednesday January 26! This is a great boost for all our teams. This is a boost we as hospitality people really need because we want to do what we are best at doing, safely, and with a high level of optimism. For you we are a place to relax, celebrate, strategize with your colleagues or get inspired in any other way.

You can expect a lot from us in 2022. Allow me to share some topics we find important and fun to share.

Trophy cabinet

We have started the year off with an addition to our trophy cabinet. Château St. Gerlach won the award for ‘Best Meeting location in The Netherlands.’ A great recognition for the estate.

I am personally nominated for the ‘Hotello of the Year Award’, an initiative of HotelloTOP and a peer-award amongst graduates of Dutch hotel schools. My nomination is a great compliment to our company and teams. To win this award I need public votes. Via this link you are able to vote with just one click. Thanks very much in advance for your support.

Collection

In April we will release a new magazine, entitled ‘Collection’. This will be the next generation of our house magazine. This annual publication has Limburgian roots with an international mindset. We designed the magazine in a way that it can be seen as a ‘briefing’ that prepares you for the future. Further, a new online platform will be created for this magazine with content that is updated regularly, but all with the same vision of the print magazine in mind.

A new part of the city

Maybe you have read that we are expanding the Kruisherenhotel Maastricht by repurposing the adjacent ‘Stuers’ building, which is a national monument. The expansion plans include 50 hotel rooms, a high-end fine casual restaurant and a multifunctional space for exhibitions and meetings for up to 150 guests. To accommodate all these facilities, world famous architect Francine Houben will design a new building as well. In fall 2023 we would like to start construction and welcome our first guests in 2025. In 2022 we are working on concept development and are meticulously preparing the plans.

25th birthday

Château St. Gerlach celebrates its 25th birthday in September. What a milestone!
We keep improving and renewing, and in April you will be able to experience our completely newly decorated restaurant ‘Les Salons’. A restaurant that from a design perspective respects the historic salons where the noble family used to live but layers on a filter of our present-day vision on interior, gastronomy and guest experience.

We optimistic about 2022 and we are looking forward to welcoming you at our houses this year.

Warm wishes,
Camille Oostwegel, directors and all the team
